Forestry Technician (Fire)

1.) Performs work directly related to wildland fire suppression and control activities including fireline construction, backfiring and burnout operations, engine and pump operations, tree falling and holding/patrol/mop up operations. Operates and maintains as well as makes minor repairs to chainsaws. 2.) Serves as a lead wildland firefighter on a prescribed fire module. Performs prescribed fire operations including preparation, ignitions, monitoring, holding and mop-up. Monitors fire behavior, fire effects and fire weather on prescribed fires. Collects pre and post burn data such as fuel loading, tree stand density, fuel moisture, mapping projects, weather, and maintains records. 3.) Serves as a lead wildland firefighter on a wildland fire engine. Will be required to drive and operate a wildland fire engine, positioning the engine for proper use and operation. Personally performs and directs others in starting pump engine, priming pump and adjusting engine speed and pump valves, laying hose, and using appropriate nozzles and nozzle adjustment in effective use of water. Only experience and education obtained by 01/10/2020 will be considered. In order to qualify for this position you must possess the Minimum Qualifications and Selective Factor.Minimum Qualification (GS-06) One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the next lower level, equivalent to grade GS-05 in the Federal service. Experience includes on-the-line wildland fire experience in forest/range fire control, prevention or suppresion work; operating and maintaining specialized wildland fire tools/equipment/vehicles and leading crewmembers. OR One full year of graduate level education directly related to the position. OR A combination of graduate education and experience as described above which together equals 100% of the requirements. Selective Factor:
The applicant must have possessed all of the following National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) incident management qualifications and training requirements to be considered eligible for this position:
Single Resource Boss - Engine (ENGB); and Incident Commander Type 5; and Completion of S-290 Portable Pumps and Water Use Selectees for IFPM positions requiring currency will be required to obtain and maintain currency for the NWCG qualifications listed above. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
